Following on from my recent argument with a fence that rather inconsiderately reversed into our caravan I thought an update appropriate on its state of repair which is now complete.
My main concern was about the gouges and a small crack to the rear ABS panel. This repair proved well within the remit of a car repairer and the damage is now invisible.
I brought a new Thetford hatch door to replaced the damaged original unit, which proved to be a straight swop, with but one proviso. I had not realised that the infill panel to the door was not included, something that I should have known since it has to match the caravan. I therefore had to rescue the original panel, thankfully this was not damaged in the scrape, and fit it into the new frame, a bit of a messy job involving silicone sealant, but one soon accomplished.
The only evidence now remaining of the encounter is a bit of a wobble in the awning rail. I have managed to straighten it so that it is usable, should I ever want to fit an awning to the off-side, but the metal was stretched so my repair is not perfect. It will serve me as a reminder to keep away from fences.
