We used this CMC CL site in October 2019 for two nights as a stopover on a north bound tour. It is situated by the A161 between the villages of Misterton and Haxey in Nottinghamshire.
Initially I was a little underwhelmed, but on reflection less so. It is a five van CMC CL site with adequate facilities for our spartan requirements, there isn’t a toilet or shower but then we tow our own, so that’s not a problem for us. We simply need the basic facilities, a water supply, toilet disposal and of course a reasonable level pitch for which mown grass is quite acceptable and, not essentially, an electricity supply.
Misterton CL provides just such facilities and offers a choice of grass or hard pitches, we chose grass.
The site is protected with a coded gate and is accessible via a rolled stone road and lays alongside the River Idle on its southern boundary. The associated riverside path provided an alternative walk for our inquisitive mutt.
The site is part of a golf driving range, which is not so worrying as may be at first thought since the pitches are well away from the target area and its use is low, at least during mid-week when we were there. The dog walking area along the side of the range is extensive.
The Haxey Gate Inn is only a few minutes walk away from the site and it enjoys a fine location on the bank of the river.
It provided us with an enjoyable lunch, taken on their sunny terrace, a cheap and filling midweek pensioners special.
