Greetham Retreat is a CMC CL site near Horncastle situated on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, an area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which indeed it is.
It is also within a 20 minute drive of some of the best accessible sandy beaches in the country, all much appreciated by our dog.
As with so many sites it is important to follow the site owners directions when towing to the site in order to avoid problems with local narrow roads.
The pitches are laid out on a terraced slope along one edge of the site with adequate spacing between, and an electric hook-up to each. The water and waste disposal points are at the bottom of the hill so consideration should be given to booking a pitch at the bottom, if like me you are weak in wind and limb, and wish to avoid having to pull a full aquaroll up the hill. Grey waste water is discharged into the boundary hedgerow.
Shower and toilet facilities are provided a short walk away across the site in the accommodation block for those not wishing to use their own onboard facilities.
It’s a pleasant site to walk around and enjoy the views across the surrounding countryside that its elevated position provides.
Dogs are handsomely catered for with the provision of network of mown footpaths through the small wood at the top of the site, and there are further extensive walking areas just off-site.
Overall we thought Greetham Retreat an excellent site understandingly placed at the top end of the price range, we also appreciated the on-line booking facility that clearly shows when pitches are available.
