We recently spent five very enjoyable and peaceful days at Lyndon Top in Rutland for a Caravan & Camping Club THS (temporary holiday site) rally. Although “rally” is an over statement more a gathering of club members taking advantage of a very advantageous rate on a picturesque site. Our thanks go to the Northampton District Association Camping and Caravan Club stewards, Maureen & Duncan for organising the rally. It was also an opportunity for us to erect and try our new awning, a Kampa Fiesta Air Pro 350, more on our experience with that later. Unfortunately this treasure of a … Continue reading →
We have now decided to dispense with our Fiamma Roll-out awning and return to using a porch awning. We have found that the roll-out style of awning is not as good as we expected in providing shade when the sun is other than at its zenith. It is also partly a weight saving measure since the porch awning will travel in our car, and will therefore free-up some 20Kg of our caravan’s weight allowance for items to which my wife attaches greater importance. We decided that a new awning must satisfy several criterion: We require an awning that is adaptable, by that … Continue reading →
I’ve had a weight on my mind recently, but have now resolved it following a trip to a weigh-bridge and a few hours with a calculator. More here. … Continue reading →
Now that I have this site almost as I want it it’s time to start using it for its intended purpose rather than worrying about the decorations, after all it is supposed to be about our caravanning experiences. Our caravan, a Lunar Clubman SB had its annual general service just before our Easter break, no dramas or bad news from our service engineer Andrew, which was a relief. One extra job that I asked Andrew to do was to remove the Alko spare wheel carrier from under the van. The spare wheel is now housed in a zip-up bag … Continue reading →
I’m going square-eyed and suffering from a boiled brain from spending too much time on this machine and trying to find my way around new software. Time for a break to catch up on neglected house and garden chores. Spring has sprung here in Middle England and is trying to climb over our garden fence, time for a bit of slash and burn I think. All the new green stuff is nice to see though, it’s a time of the year to be enjoyed.
The Site Review section is something of a duel purpose area. On one hand it is intended as an aid to our memory regarding the sites we have visited in case we are considering a return, while on the other hand it serves to let friends and family know where our travels have taken us. I intend to continue reinstating the earlier reviews over the next few weeks. I shall also be reposting the various articles I have written after first taking the opportunity of reviewing and updating them. … Continue reading →
As may be obvious I’m in the middle of recovering this site from a bit of a whoopsie following a take over by a dose of malware which had decided it could use my domain as a free advertising billboard. Initially I couldn’t find any help with regard to removing it, so decided that, in the interests of safety, to erase the site and start again. It was only after the erasure that I realised just how big this site had become. I also discovered just how bad the state of my back-up files were, but not until after wiping … Continue reading →
