I think that one of England’s gems is to be found between the city Lincoln and the East coast in the form of The Wolds, rightly described as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Greetham Retreat is pet friendly CMC CL site that is located at the southern end of the Wolds and comprises an attractive elevated four acre landscaped garden that has extensive plantings of shrubs and trees through which paths meander. The focal point is a large pond or more accurately a small lake.

Water lilies

The five caravan all weather pitches are set out in a terraced row to one side of the site on the other side of which is block of five holiday apartments formed from an old farm barn. This same building also contains the toilet and shower facilities available to visiting caravaners.

Walk on site

Those, like me who are weak in wind and limb, are advised to request a pitch close to the water supply point at the lower end of the site. For while the site cannot be described as hilly pulling a full Aquaroll to the top pitch may demand a coffee break for recovery purposes; that said the best view is from the top of the terrace.

Above the pond

We found the site to be clean, tidy and well maintained and thought it good value at £18 per night, especially for those requiring site toilets and showers. I particularly appreciated the on-line booking system.

Walking the dog off site

And the surrounding countryside is very enjoyable.
